International Study Experience Program (IEP) / Summer Internship Program:
International experience program abbreviated as IEP is a step forward from GTU in the direction of becoming truly Global University. The program is initiated first in the year 2011 under a vision of Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Akshai Aggarwal.
Efforts are initiated from mid 2010 to communicate with different Foreign Universities to get into collaboration with GTU. Different universities are communicated in North America and Europe. It is necessary to develop the correct model for the program for its reliability and sustainability. After discussions at all the levels with different universities, GTU has been able to achieve breakthrough from one university of USA and two universities of Canada. They are Kansas State University, USA Laurentian University and the University of Alberta, Canada.
After signing the formal Memorandum of Understanding in the field of joint research, students and faculty exchange, the teacher from all the universities are asked to sit together via video conference and emails to discussion for the syllabus mapping of the subjects of the final year. Both the universities agree that for IEP best thing to do is to choose students of the pre-final year. They visit the host university after finishing their 6th-semester exam in case of BE/B.Pharm and 4th Semester exam in case of MCA during the summer break of the university.
The professors’ team has decided that the duration of the program can be between six to eight weeks so that the course can be covered fully. Under this program, students have to study two subjects of their final year at Host University, they have to appear in internal exam, continuous evaluation, mid-semester exam and the final exam at their host university only, if student clears all these exams he/she will be given credit for those two subjects at GTU. Once the program is over the student will come back and join their parent college and finish their final year.
To choose from the pool of a huge number of students GTU has decided that the selection should be based on their CPI of semester 4 of the chosen branches for which IEP is going on.The purpose of this program is to give exposure to Indian students from different ways of studies, methods, culture and help them develop their views about research and most importantly to develop the critical thinking and preparing students to stand in today's dynamic and international market.
